Our final day at Dol-Y-Moch

Our final morning started off with a fantastic start – SNOW! Although it didn’t settle (and was more like rain) it inspired us all to find that last little bit of energy!

For Groups A and B their morning was spent orienteering through a fantastic forest. Just look how happy they were before they realised how far they had to walk! They then spent the afternoon getting soaked through at the beach by the crashing waves. Nevertheless – they still devoured an ice-cream!

Group C and D had a fantastic day journeying up to the Welsh mountains (where they were stuck behind a snowplow). They than had to trek up the snowy mountain until they found the mine entrance. It was in the mine where they heard the infamous story of Mr Jones and his dog, whilst enjoying a candle-lit lunch and a hot chocolate! Just look at that view!

Group E spent their final morning at the beach too! They had a go at rock scrambling – just look at their concentration! In the afternoon, they learnt how to rock climb and abseil using the climbing wall at DYM! All of the children participated – even when they felt a bit nervous!

Overall, the trip was a mighty success. The children all developed their abilities to be: respectful; resilient; and responsible. All of the staff thoroughly enjoyed the weekend too and the staff at DYM commended the children on their fantastic behaviour. Well done Richard Lee!

Another fantastic day at Dol-Y-Moch!

We’ve all had another superb day at Dol-Y-Moch! Check these photos out to see for yourselves…

Groups C and D visited the beach today, some of them even went into the sea!! At the beach, the children were able to explore the environment and have a go at making some art. They also enjoyed a delicious ice-cream as a reward! Lush!

Today, Group E went on a mine adventure! Together, they hiked up a mountain in the glorious Welsh rain. Once they arrived at the mine, they took part in exploring the abandoned mine and participating in challenges! Here they are taking a break halfway up the mountain.

Group A had a great morning! They went to the lake on site and had a go at kayaking – they even pushed Mr Taylor in at the end!! On their way to the lake, they had a go at some of the obstacle courses – a great team experience!!

Today, Group B had a go at Mountain Biking this morning. They all had a super time and even had a go at the Pump Track. In the afternoon, they also ventured up to Dol-Y-Moch lake. They all had a super time having a go at kayaking and playing lots of games. At the end lots of the children had a go at the Dol-Y-Moch Dive!

We can’t wait to share tomorrow’s amazing adventures with you all…

Day One in the Doly-Y-Moch house…

We’ve had a fantastic start to our Dol-Y-Moch adventure! We all woke up eager to find out what we would get up to during the day (after completing our chores and making our own sandwiches – of course!)

Groups A and B ventured up mountains and into abandoned slate mines, where they conquered several challenges. All the children had a great adventure!

Group C went to the beach and had a go at rock scrambling – they were ace!! They also had a go at kayaking on the infamous Dol-Y-Moch lake. The children loved doing the trust fall into the lake at the end!

Group D also went kayaking and rock scrambling. They all had fantastic resilience and perseverance during all of their activities.

Group E went to the beach where they had a dip in the chilly sea and enjoyed a delicious ice-cream! They also had a go at orienteering around a picturesque lake and developed their map reading skills.

Overall, the children (and staff) had a super first day! They can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings…

Welcome to our party

During the first week of this half term, 6A explored the Mexican celebration of Dia de Los Muertos (day of the dead). The celebration is held from 31st October to 2nd November. It is not a sad time, but a time to remember and reflect on the lives of people we have lost. We then created invitations to invite guests to our parties.
