Potions topic began with a bang in year 4 with a visit from Jupiter Jack from Mad Science. We all had a wonderful day, making wands and creating some of our own spells to cast and potions to pour. Our gaggle of wizards, witches and scientists looked brilliant and had lots of fun!
If you could make a magic potion… What would you make?
What magical ingredients would you include?
This week year 4 have been investigating liquids. We learnt about viscosity, had a race to see which liquids would be the slowest. This meant they were the most viscose!
We used a ramp, tray, measuring spoon, stopwatch and liquids.
Which one do you think will be the slowest?
Which will be the fastest?
We found that the thicker and stickier a liquid, the higher the viscosity. This makes it travel slower.
Which liquids can you find at home that have a high or low viscosity?
Year 4 had a fantastic day today! We were taken over by gaggle of witches, wizards and mad scientists to introduce our potions topic!
Our day began with a sorting ceremony, in which we discovered our houses for this year.
Then we had a busy morning wand making, charm writing and potion making!
We had to measure very carefully to make our potions correctly…
If if you could make a potion, what would it do? What ingredients would you choose?
